Regulation of Mitochondrial Metabolism and PH

The following is an excellent excerpt from Metabolic Regulation: A Human Perspective, by Keith N. Frayn. After reading it, the connection between metabolism (specifically mitochondrial oxidative metabolism capacity) and PH should be clear.
